DNR purchases 5100 acres in Chippewa County

By Anthony Reynolds

Raber Township – The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is moving ahead on purchasing over 5000 acres of Chippewa County forestland. The $3.3 million parcel near Raber Township will be added to the deer management program as a winter habitat. DNR Director Rebecca Humphries says the parcel is a significant and critical addition to the winter deer habitat in the eastern Upper Peninsula.
