Ishpeming, MI – An Ishpeming man has been named as one of the Michigan Department of Transportation's most outstanding employees. Andy Sikkema is an administrator at the Ishpeming Transportation Service Center and is the longest serving TSC manager in the state. The Director's Award is given to those who focus on MDOT's goals and consistently go above and beyond in their jobs. Sikkema is a leader in corridor planning, community involvement and multi-modal transportation planning. He worked with the city of Hougton to secure funds for a pedestrian tunnel under M-26.
