Legislation passed that prohibits payment for illegal online gambling

By Associated Press

Lansing, MI – Democratic Representatives Bart Stupak and Sander Levin joined state Republicans in passing legislation to forbid credit card use on Internet gambling sites. The bill, which was passed last week in Washington D.C., would prohibit credit cards and other forms of payment from being used to settle online bets. It would also clarify and update current law to read that most gambling is illegal online. Law enforcement agencies would also be enabled to work with Internet providers to block access to gambling web sites. State-run lotteries and horse racing are exempt from the bill.
