Gwinn man arrested after armed standoff

By Anthony Reynolds

Gwinn – A Gwinn man was arrested this morning after a five-hour standoff with Michigan State Police. Troopers from the Sawyer Detachment responded to a car crash just after midnight on M-35 in Gwinn. Among the passengers was 36-year-old David Beaudette, who fled on foot when officers approached him. When the troopers later located him at a nearby residence, Beaudette pointed a shotgun at an officer and demanded they leave or he would kill them. He later surrendered without incident. Beaudette is currently lodged in the Marquette County Jail on felonious assault and felony firearms charges.
