Survey shows fuel economy important to auto consumers

By Associated Press

Detroit, MI – A Consumer Reports magazine survey shows that fuel economy is as much a deciding factor as reliability for people shopping for a new vehicle. The nationwide telephone survey taken earlier this month shows that 27% of buyers rank fuel efficiency as the top factor in an automobile purchase. 25% said reliability was most important. The poll has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points.
