Houghton's snow angel record to be challenged

By Anthony Reynolds

Bismarck, N.D. – Bismarck, North Dakota is determined to take back the record for flailing arms and legs in the snow. The city lost the snow angel title to Houghton earlier this year. It will try to break the record on the day after Christmas. The competition has spurred some friendly trash-talking between organizers in Bismarck and defending champion Houghton. Bismarck created the Guinness category in 2002 with 1,791 people flailing back in the snow. Syracuse, New York failed twice to top it. But Houghton residents shattered the record in February with nearly 3,800 snow angel makers. Houghton also holds records for the biggest snowball and snowball fight.
