Madison, WI – Wisconsin is ranked as one of the nation's top-ten healthiest states this year by the United Health Foundation. Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services spokeswoman Stephanie Marquis says the designation is probably due to people making healthier choices. The state has few worker deaths and a good track record when it comes to controlling infectious diseases but obesity and smoking rates remain high. Dr. Reed Tuckson with the United Health Foundation says nearly one in five Wisconsin residents are obese. The state gets high marks for affordability and quality of health care.
