Houghton County, MI – The Houghton County Sheriff's Department has arrested a man for leading deputies on a chase through the area. Officers say the incident occurred Saturday around 3 a.m. on M-26 near 4th Street in Houghton. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle when the driver took off down Cleverly and onto a dirt trail that leads to a snowmobile trail. The chase continued into Atlantic Mine and through several streets before the suspect turned down a dead-end road. He drove through the yard of a private residence and around a house, then struck a Sheriff's patrol vehicle. The driver's vehicle came to rest on top of the hood of the patrol car. Officers arrested the suspect and lodged him in the Houghton County Jail on multiple charges. The suspect's name is being withheld, pending arraignment.
