Marquette, MI – The Northern Michigan University Health Promotion Office is doing its part to combat drinking and driving this Halloween. Staff and students stood on the corner of Front and Washington Streets in Marquette last Thursday, handing out cards. Health Promotion Specialist Lenny Shible says the cards contain the names and phone numbers of area cab and limo companies, for safe transportation in case people find themselves in unsafe situations. Shible says Halloween is one of the nights where people drink the most. He notes the cab cards provide another layer of safety, besides walking or using a designated driver.
The cards are available at each bar in Marquette, at package liquor retailers, and in other locations in the city and on campus.
