Lansing,MI – Mackinac Island has been named the 5th best island in the world. The island received it's title as one of the top islands from National Geographic Traveler magazine. Mackinac Island is one of Michigan's top vacation destinations. It is considered a step back in time with transportation limited to horse and buggy, bicycle, or foot. National Geographic Traveler magazine enlisted a panel of 522 international travel experts to rank islands based on specific criteria. The best-rated islands scored 77 or above. Mackinac Island scored an 80.
