Michigan Tech will purchase UPPCO building

By Abbey Kwiatkowski

Houghton, MI – Michigan Technological University will move forward with plans to purchase the Upper Peninsula Power Company building. The acquisition will cost around $3.5 million. Glenn Mroz is President of Michigan Tech. He says the building has office and classroom space that would be very useful to the university. Mroz says the next step will be to evaluate the space on-campus and the space in the building. He adds that the purchase would create more jobs and better business flow in the downtown area.
