Tech students to float concrete canoes in June

By Nicole Walton

UNDATED – Students from Michigan Technological University are once again taking part in the annual National Concrete Canoe Competition. Teams of civil engineering students from 22 top engineering schools in the U.S. and Canada will meet in Montreal next month to see whose canoe is the best. The schools will compete in four categories, including aesthetics and structural integrity, a technical design paper, an academic presentation about the design and other features, and the performance of the canoe and its paddlers.

The competition takes place June 19-21 at the Place du Canada.
