Marquette, MI – The City of Marquette's credit rating has gone up. City Manager Judy Akkala says the Standard & Poor's rating assigned to unlimited and limited tax general obligation bonds rose from "BBB" to "AA-." S&P officials credited the change to a growing local economy, strong finances, and a low debt burden.
Standard & Poor's provides credit ratings worldwide. Last year, S&P published more than 510,000 ratings.
