Marquette County millage proposals

UNDATED – Several millage proposals were on Tuesday's Marquette County primary ballot.

Michigamme Township residents approved 4 mills over 6 years for operations. It will generate $121,119 in the first year.

In Negaunee Township, voters said yes to a renewal of 2.5 mills over 15 years for fire protection, and also the renewal of one mill over 10 years for road maintenance.

Residents in Powell Township approved millages in their district Tuesday. They included 15 mills over 4 years for garbage collection and a 1.5-mill increase over 6 years for the purchase of a fire truck, ambulance, and other related equipment.

A proposal for 2 mills over 5 years for garbage collection passed in Richmond Township.

In Sands Township voters approved millages for general operations and the library.

Skandia Township residents renewed 2.2 mills over 5 years for emergency services.

In Wells Township, a proposal for 2.99 mills over 8 years for road maintenance passed.

And voters overwhelmingly approved .6 mills for 6 years for operations of the Marquette County Transit Authority. It will raise $1,069,931 in its first year.
