UNDATED – Michigan will receive over $6.6 million dollars for fish and wildlife projects. The funding, which comes from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will be used to deal with long-standing needs at wildlife refuges and hatcheries throughout the state. Michigan will receive funding under 4 FWS programs including energy efficiency retrofit, capital improvements, deferred maintenance, and habitat restoration. Wildlife refuges in the Upper Peninsula that will be receiving funds include the Seney National Wildlife Refuge, which will receive $1,241,000 to replace a deteriorated upper goose pen water control structure and $285,000 to replace a deteriorated C-2 to M-2 structure.
