UNDATED – A proposal by State Representative Judy Nerat has been passed by the Michigan State Senate. Nerat's proposal entails requiring hunting land sold by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to be reinstated with new land for hunting. The goal of the plan is to make sure Michigan continues to be a top destination for outdoor lovers. As of right now, Michigan is home to 8 million acres of public hunting land, including 4.5 million acres monitored by the Department of Natural Resources. Licensed hunters contribute 1 billion dollars every year to Michigan, which remains 3rd in the nation for licensed hunters.
