Ishpeming, MI – The NICE Community School District will improve its early childhood programs, thanks to a $100,000 grant from the state. NICE was selected as a "Project ReImagine demonstration district earlier this year, and was in the top five of 11 Michigan Districts awarded funds.
The money will be used to strengthen the school-family connection before kids enter Kindergarten. Projects include the expansion of daytime playgroups for 2-4 year-old children and families; the creation of early literacy classes for parents and their 3- and 4-year-olds; and improving parent, family, and child access to technology.
Superintendent Michael Haynes says the grant will allow the district to create programs that help children reach their fullest potential.
