Hancock man sentenced for thefts

Houghton, MI – A Hancock man accused of stealing a diamond ring and trying to use a stolen credit card has been sentenced for his offenses. Matthew Bailey, 21, was charged with taking the ring from his mother and trying to use the card at a gas station.

On Friday, Bailey was sentenced to seven months in the Houghton County Jail, $1,200 restitution, and two years probation. He also has the option of early release to spend the last 30 days of his sentence in a residential treatment program.
