Houghton, MI – The BHK Child Development Board in Houghton has been honored as 1 of 10 Head Start Centers of Excellence across the country. As part of the grant competition, BHK will receive a 5 year,
$200,000 per year grant from the national Office of Head Start. Former Executive Director of BHK Rod Liimatainen says this is a great honor and highlights the organization's hard work. BHK is a nonprofit group that offers early childcare development programs as well as about 18 other services related to child development. Liimatainen will be serving as the Director of Michigan's Center of Excellence in Early Childhood.
