Deer charges through house window

By Abbey Kwiatkowski

Kingsford, MI – One person was almost injured on Saturday evening in Kingsford, when a deer charged through a window of a residential home. The homeowner at 327 River Hills Road, Ron Johnston Jr., and his family were asleep at 2am, when he heard something crash into the side of their 2-story home. Johnston's wife, angel and their younger daughter, 8-year-old Isabel were asleep upstairs. His older daughter, 12-year-old Danna was sleeping in a downstairs bedroom. Johnston says he heard Danna screaming from her room and once he was downstairs, saw that a young buck had broken through a window, run down the hall and was jumping on top of his older daughter's bed. The animal came within 2 inches of hitting the girls face. Johnston said he then ran for his pistol. He shot and missed at the animal twice, but on the 5th shot killed the deer. Johnson dragged the body to the side of the road and authorities came and picked it up. Johnston says there is a great deal of damage in their home from the deer and the gunshots, but he is thankful his family is unharmed.
