DNR seeks artists to stay in Porkies

ONTONAGON COUNTY, MI— The Department of Natural Resources is seeking applicants for its 2022-2023 Porcupine Mountains Artist-in-Residence programs.

The programs are open to artists and artisans whose work can be influenced by the wilderness setting of the Porkies. It offers writers, composers and all visual and performing artists an opportunity to experience the beauty of the Porkies and express it through their art form.

Artists are selected for a minimum two-week residency and are given the use of a rustic cabin on the Little Union River. They’ll be asked to donate an original piece of art inspired by their stay and share their experiences with the public through a demonstration or talk during their residencies.

Application materials are at www.porkies.org/artist-in-residence.

Applications must be received by February 14.
