Marquette celebrates Salamander Days

MARQUETTE, MI— The City of Marquette Office of Arts & Culture is celebrating the change of seasons by presenting a new art exhibit at City Hall.

“Signs of Spring” features artwork by new, emerging and professional local artists inspired by the Blue Spotted Salamander and other subtle signs of spring. Residents are invited to vote for their favorite.

Awards for Popular Vote, City Manager’s Choice and First Place will be presented at a City Commission meeting in May.

The exhibit is part of Salamander Days, an awareness campaign presented by the City of Marquette, Superior Watershed Partnership and others supporting the migration of the Blue Spotted Salamander on Presque Isle Park. Arts and science programming will be presented throughout the month.
