Former FinnU buildings bought by Finlandia Foundation National

HANCOCK, MI— Finlandia Foundation National says it has purchased two buildings that were part of Finlandia University in Hancock.

FFN now owns the structures that house the Finnish American Heritage Center and North Wind Books—both on Quincy Street.

The acquisition is part of the Foundation’s mission to preserve Finnish cultural institutions that faced an uncertain future when FinnU closed last March.

The FFN launched a $3 million campaign to purchase the buildings, along with the archival material, artwork, artifacts, inventory, and the resources related to the folk school. FFN has also secured the positions of the six staff members responsible for the ongoing programs, operations, and conservation of and care for the material assets.
