Ojibwa casinos move forward with expansions and upgrades

BARAGA, MI--   Renovation and expansion plans for the Ojibwa Casinos in Baraga and Marquette have been approved.  

Plans for the $33.5 million project in Chocolay Township include a three-star, 80-room hotel; a 1,200-seat entertainment complex; three branded restaurants;  a 400-seat conference facility; and an expansion of the gaming floor to accommodate 500 slot machines. 

A groundbreaking ceremony for the project will be held December 6 at 11 a.m. at the casino.

The Baraga casino is slated for a $6.5 million facelift.  It includes expansion of the existing gaming facility and other infrastructure upgrades. 

Groundbreaking for the Baraga project is slated for December 7 at 10 a.m.

Both projects are expected to be completed by late 2017 or early 2018.
