Houghton businesses violates state health order, liquor license suspended

HOUGHTON, MI--   The liquor license and permits of a Houghton business have been suspended for violating the state health order.

The Michigan Liquor Control Commission issued an emergency suspension of the license and various permits held by the Mine Shaft and Rock House Grille on November 25. The state health department says licensees are prohibited from allowing indoor gatherings on their premises. And prohibited gatherings held without requiring patrons to wear face masks pose an immediate threat to the health, safety and welfare of the public.

Rock House parent company KMPD is scheduled to appear before an administrative law judge Friday via Zoom to determine whether the suspension should continue or other fines and penalties should be imposed.
