LSCP to help GINCC, which could disband

ISHPEMING, MI— The Greater Ishpeming Negaunee Chamber of Commerce could dissolve in the near future.

The organization has a plan to partner with the Lake Superior Community Partnership to help businesses in Marquette County’s West End.

The GINCC’s former executive director is charged with embezzling thousands of dollars from the organization, which crippled its ability to provide business support services.

The LSCP will establish a West End Advisory Council comprised of six to eight small businesses from western Marquette County. They’ll work with LSCP staff to develop a West End Services Strategy for delivering on-the-ground networking and informational events.

The GINCC Board of Directors has also voted to recommend to its full membership that the organization dissolve and name the LSCP as the receiver of its assets.

More information is at www.marquette.org/WestEndForward.
