UP-wide rent study launched

MARQUETTE, MI— InvestUP has launched a study of rental housing across the region.

CEO Marty Fittante says the project is a collaboration with Central Upper Peninsula Planning and Development, Eastern Upper Peninsula Regional Planning and Development, and Western U.P. Planning and Development Region. The study is aimed at managers and owners of rental units and developments.

Fittante says the groups are collecting data to get a clearer look at what rental challenges look like across the U.P.

“[A] better understanding of what average rents look like, what vacancy looks like, and other challenges that landlords may be facing.”

He says the study will help determine where demand isn’t met, where markets are currently working well, and possibly where future investment is needed, and with that, help investors shape some investment policy toward trying to meet that unmet need.

Fittante says one of the biggest challenges the region is facing right now is housing—not only ownership, but rentals, as well.

The study can be found at www.investupmi.com.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
