GAYLORD, MI (AP)-- A member of a now-closed University of Michigan fraternity has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge connected to vandalism at a ski resort.
The Ann Arbor News reports Wednesday that Otsego County Prosecutor Michael Rola offered a plea deal to Matthew Vlasic. Vlasic had faced a felony destruction of a building charge.
Sentencing is expected in August or September.
Doors, furniture, fixtures and carpet were badly damaged at Treetops Resort in Dover Township and Boyne Highlands near Petoskey in mid-January. Both resorts are in northern Michigan.
Treetops estimates $430,000 in costs from the Jan. 17-18 vandalism. Two other Sigma Alpha Mu members face misdemeanor charges of letting minors use drugs and alcohol.
