Laplander headed to circuit court

HOUGHTON, MI--   A Calumet man arrested for breaking and entering and stealing a car has been bound over to Houghton County Circuit Court.  

Isaac Laplander, 37, is accused of breaking into Harter’s Auto Supply in Calumet April 23 and taking chain saws and tools.  He was arrested April 27, and while out on bail allegedly stole a car from Kissel Chevrolet in Calumet.  Police couldn’t find Laplander for several days.  He was eventually located May 11 at U.P. Health System Marquette. 

Laplander is charged with safe breaking, three counts of breaking and entering, and stealing a motor vehicle, punishable by up to life in prison.  He waived his preliminary hearing Monday and will be arraigned in circuit court. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
