Dickinson County suspect involved in police standoff sentenced

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   A Norway man who threatened to shoot himself after police responded to his residence for a domestic argument has been sentenced on a weapons charge.   

Robert Anderson, 51, allegedly held police at bay for about two hours on

June 21.  He pleaded guilty the next day to possession of a firearm while under the influence.

Anderson was sentenced this week to 60 days in jail and two months of probation.  He must forfeit his weapon and cannot possess any firearms during his probationary period.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
