Suspect in Hancock fire appears in court

HOUGHTON, MI--   An 18-year-old male has been arraigned in Houghton County District Court for causing a fire at a Hancock gas station. 

Diego Francisco Cabreralara is charged with operating while intoxicated, driving while impaired, and failure to report an accident.  He’s accused of driving his Honda Civic into a parked Ford F150 at the Holiday gas station Saturday.  The truck then hit a gas pump, which ignited. 

A preliminary hearing has not yet been set.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
