Accused counterfeiter sentenced in Houghton

HOUGHTON, MI--   A Hancock man charged with counterfeiting will spend time in the Houghton County Jail. 

Nicholas Edwards, 26, was arrested in early December after a local business filed a complaint about suspected fake money.  Police executed a search warrant at Edwards’ home and seized a large amount of counterfeit cash. 

Edwards was charged with counterfeiting – possession of coins.  He’s been sentenced to eight months in jail with credit for 54 days already served and 18 months of probation.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
