Laplander sentenced for stealing car, B&E

HOUGHTON, MI--   A Calumet man accused of stealing a car and breaking into an auto parts business has been sentenced.  

Isaac Laplander, 37, was arrested last April after he broke into Harter’s Auto Supply and took a chain saw and some tools.  Shortly afterward Laplander allegedly broke into Kissel Chevrolet in Calumet and stole a Camaro, then drove it to Wisconsin. 

Laplander pleaded no contest to breaking and entering and stealing a motor vehicle.  He was sentenced to two to ten years in prison with credit for 272 days already served and $5,000 in restitution.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
