MARQUETTE, MI--   A sentencing date has been set for a Marquette woman who pleaded to embezzling money from the Marquette Maritime Museum.

Carrie Fries, 37, was originally charged with two counts of embezzling between $1,000 and $20,000 from a nonprofit and three counts of forgery.  She pleaded guilty last week to one count of embezzlement between $1,000 and $20,000.

Sentencing is set for July 29.  Fries must also pay more than $30,000 in restitution.

Fries was an employee of the Maritime Museum.  She was terminated in December of 2015 for financial impropriety.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
