Sentencing date set for would-be lawnmower thief

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Marquette man has pleaded guilty to trying to steal a lawnmower from an area 

business.

Brad Morris, 35, was arrested in the early morning hours of June 12 at the Sears store on O’Dovero Drive in Marquette. 

He pleaded guilty Friday to larceny—$1,000 or more but less than $20,000.   The charge is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine or three times the value of the property stolen.  

Sentencing is set for August 26 in Marquette County Circuit Court.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
