Crivitz man enters plea in hit man case

MARINETTE, MI--   A Crivitz, Wisconsin man charged with hiring a hit man to kill his son and daughter-in-law has entered a no contest plea in the case.

The Iron Mountain Daily News reports Robert Dettmering, 76, withdrew his previous plea of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect Friday in Marinette County Circuit Court.  Instead he’ll plead to conspiracy to commit first-degree intentional homicide.

Dettmering was allegedly upset that land he transferred to his son was sold.  A criminal complaint says he paid an undercover agent $1,000 as a down payment for the hits.

Sentencing is set for March 23. Dettmering faces up to 60 years in prison.
