Republic woman pleads to uttering and publishing

MARQUETTE, MI--    A sentencing date has been set for a Republic woman arrested in January on three counts of uttering and publishing. 

Melinda Mongiat-Gransinger was accused of cashing a deceased relative’s checks. She pleaded guilty earlier this month to one count of uttering and publishing, punishable by up to 14 years in prison. 

Sentencing is set for April 7.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
