Man convicted of criminal sexual conduct in 2015 incident

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Menominee County man has been found guilty of criminal sexual conduct following a two-day jury trial in Marquette.

Prosecutor Matt Wiese says Brandon Field, 24, of Wallace was convicted of third-degree CSC in Marquette County Circuit Court on Wednesday. The assault reportedly happened around Halloween in 2015. But the victim—who was friends with Field and his wife at the time—didn’t want to upset their marriage and didn’t report the incident. Only when she learned Field may have assaulted another woman in August of 2016 did she contact police.

Field faces up to 15 years in prison. Sentencing is set for January 19.

Wiese encourages victims of sexual assault to come forward, even if the crime happened long ago. He says his office will seek to hold the offender responsible.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
