Ftouhi refuses plea deal

FLINT, MI (MPRN)--   The man charged with stabbing a police officer at Flint’s airport last year says he said “no” to a plea deal Thursday because he’s not guilty.

Amor Ftouhi sat shackled in a federal courtroom in Flint during his final pre-trial conference before his trial next month on terrorism charges. During the brief hearing federal prosecutors revealed they had offered a plea deal.   The deal would require Ftouhi to serve life in prison.

Through an interpreter Ftouhi told the judge he did not want to discuss a plea, because he’s not guilty.

Picking the jury that will hear the case could be tricky. Ftouhi’s defense attorney says many of the more than 130 prospective jurors who answered a questionnaire said they are aware of the airport incident and have feelings about the case.

She wants to eliminate half the jury pool before jury selection begins November 6.
