Woman pleads to passing movie-set cash

MARQUETTE, MI--   An Ishpeming woman arrested for passing counterfeit cash has pleaded guilty to the crime. 

Devin Spencer, 39, was accused of using the fake $100 bill January 4 at the Oasis gas station. The money was marked “for movie use only.”

Spencer was initially charged with counterfeiting – coins/possession of less than five. She pleaded guilty in Marquette District Court this week to the lesser charge of counterfeiting – trademarks/possession of dies/plates/labels.

Sentencing is set for June 6th.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
