Wisconsin man sentenced for killing his wife

MARINETTE, WI--   A Pembine, Wisconsin man charged in the January shooting death of his wife has been sentenced.

Gary Rogge, 56, was given 40 years in prison and 20 years of extended supervision. He pleaded no contest in July to first-degree reckless homicide in the shooting of Shelley Erickson-Rogge, 63.

Rogge claimed he and his wife were drinking and playing shooting games at the time of the incident. Officials say the gun was against his wife’s chest when it discharged.

Rogge was originally charged with first-degree intentional homicide. He was sentenced Monday in Marinette County Circuit Court.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
