Ironwood woman convicted on drug charges following 3-day trial

IRONWOOD, MI— A Gogebic County jury found an Ironwood woman guilty last week of several meth-related charges.

Michelle Kitto, 54, was convicted following a three-day trial of possession with intent to deliver meth, two counts of possession of meth within a thousand feet of a library or school property, conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver meth, and maintaining a drug house.

The Gogebic-Iron Area Narcotics Team investigated the case. GIANT conducted several controlled buys of meth. Detectives also attached GPS technology to Kitto’s vehicle and tracked it making trips to Superior, Wisconsin.

She and her boyfriend, John Wodie, were stopped on US-2 in Ironwood on December 10th of last year. Around 48 grams of meth was found in the trunk of the car, while scales, meth, and numerous gem bags used to package meth were found in their home.

Wodie is currently serving a prison term of 13 to 20 years in connection with that incident.

A sentencing date has not yet been set for Kitto.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
