LaJeunesse arraigned for stealing from GINCC

MARQUETTE, MI— The former director of the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce was arraigned on felony embezzlement charges Wednesday.

Samantha LaJeunesse, 34, is charged with embezzlement by an agent or trustee of $20,000 or more, using a computer to commit a crime, and illegal use of a financial transaction device or credit card.

She’s accused of using a GINCC debit card to send more than $30,000 to Caesar’s Casino and Draft Kings from July through September. The Chamber was left with only $500.

The GINCC board is looking for a new executive director.

A preliminary hearing for LaJeunesse is set for December 28th.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
