Woman charged in car/pedestrian crash in Marinette

MARINETTE, WI— A Marinette woman has been charged with hitting and injuring a Marinette High School student on December 8th.

Amber Renner, 36, is charged with knowingly operating a motor vehicle while suspended, causing great bodily harm.

Seventeen-year-old Bryce Steinfath was traversing a crosswalk at the intersection of Carney Avenue and Josephine Street when he was hit by a vehicle and dragged approximately 50 yards. He was taken to Children's Hospital in Milwaukee for treatment.

Steinfath has since returned home. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay medical bills as he recovers.

Renner is scheduled to appear in court on January 16th.

Several agencies responded to the scene of the accident, including the Marinette Police Department, Marinette Fire Department, Aurora Medical Center- Bay Area EMS personnel, Marinette Emergency Rescue Squad, and the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
