Prison sentence handed down to Menominee man on drug charge

MENOMINEE, MI— A Menominee man is headed to prison after he pleaded guilty in May to a cocaine charge.

Christopher Martinez-Aldea, 37, was sentenced Friday to 4 to 20 years on a charge of possession of cocaine—50 to 449 grams.

On May 18th of 2021, UPSET detectives ascertained a package sent from Puerto Rico to Aldea in Menominee contained 510 grams of cocaine. On May 26th, a controlled delivery of the package was made to Aldea’s home by postal authorities and UPSET detectives.

A search warrant was executed at the house. Officials seized digital scales, two rifles, and a 9mm handgun.

The street value of the cocaine was estimated at more than $50,000.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
