MENOMINEE, MI— Former Menominee County Sheriff’s deputy Brian Helfert has been sentenced on a December conviction for criminal sexual conduct.

Helfert was sentenced Thursday to nine to 15 years in prison.

Helfert faces another trial this summer in a separate case. He’s charged with two counts of 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct with a child 13 years old. He’s accused of sexually assaulting a 6th-grade student from Blesch Intermediate School in 2017.

Trial is set for July 29th through August 2nd.
