Circuit Court date set for Houghton murder suspect

HOUGHTON, MI— A scheduling conference has been set for a former Houghton attorney accused of murder.

Evan Dixon, 60, is charged with first-degree murder and felony firearms. He allegedly shot and killed Theron Duncan, 53, in the bathroom of a Houghton bar last November.

Dixon waived his circuit court arraignment this week and pleaded “not guilty” by mail.

Marquette Circuit Court Judge Matt Wiese was appointed visiting judge in the case, as Houghton County Circuit Court Judge Brittany Bulleit and Dixon were lawyers in Houghton County around the same time.

A scheduling conference is set for November 1 in 12th Circuit Court.
