Norway man extradited from California facing trial on charges he sexually assaulted children

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— A Dickinson County man accused of sexually assaulting two minors will stand trial.

Trentin McWilliams, 23, of Norway is accused of assaulting a child at a relative’s home in 2018. He also allegedly assaulted a 14-year-old girl in a vehicle in 2022.

The Department of Attorney General charged McWilliams with 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct and accosting a child for immoral purposes in the first case. The Dickinson County Prosecutor’s Office charged him with three counts of 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of 4th-degree criminal sexual conduct in the second case.

McWilliams was extradited from California in September as part of Operation Survivor Justice. Funded by a $1 million state appropriation, it’s a partnership between the Michigan Department of Attorney General, local County Prosecutors, and the U.S. Marshals Service to locate, apprehend, and return to Michigan fugitive offenders with outstanding sexual assault warrants.

McWilliams was bound over to 41st Circuit Court in Dickinson County last Friday. A pretrial conference is set for December 2.
