Dickinson County woman charged with leading police on chase in stolen vehicle faces 5 charges in circuit court

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI— A Norway woman accused of stealing a vehicle and leading police on a high-speed chase in August has been arraigned in Dickinson County Circuit Court.

Stephanie Vogel, 35, allegedly stole a taxi from the Family Dollar store in Norway. Officers chased her through Iron Mountain and Kingsford. Vogel eventually returned to Norway, where police had deployed stop sticks. The vehicle was disabled and Vogel was taken into custody.

Vogel is charged with unlawful driving away of a motor vehicle, 4th-degree fleeing a police officer, operating while intoxicated, reckless driving, and alcohol-open container in vehicle.

Her next court date has not yet been scheduled.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
