MARQUETTE, MI— Four Marquette residents accused of child abuse have waived their preliminary hearings.
Colin and Carrie Irish were arrested in February for locking their 10-year-old special needs son in a closet for several hours a day over a period of several months. It’s also alleged an 8-year-old child living in the Irish home was neglected from receiving proper medical care for multiple ongoing medical needs.
Carrie’s mother and sister, Linda Maxson and Michelle Maxson, who lived with the Irishes, were also arrested in connection with child abuse.
The suspects are charged as follows:
Colin Irish, 58
- 2 counts of first-degree child abuse
- 2 counts of first-degree child abuse committed in the presence of another child
- Second-degree child abuse
- 2 counts of second-degree child abuse committed in the presence of another child
- Failure to report abuse
Carrie Irish, 49
- 2 counts of first-degree child abuse
- 2 counts of first-degree child abuse committed in the presence of another child
- Second-degree child abuse
- 2 counts of second-degree child abuse committed in the presence of another child
Linda Maxson, 80
- Second-degree child abuse
- 2 counts of second-degree child abuse committed in the presence of another child
Michelle Maxson, 47
- Second-degree child abuse
- 2 counts of second-degree child abuse committed in the presence of another child
- 2 counts of failure to report abuse
All four waived their preliminary hearings in 96th District Court Wednesday. Their arraignments in Marquette County Circuit Court are scheduled for October 10.
They all remain out on bond.
